Objectives of the Group

  • To establish what healthcare services are specifically aimed at asylum seekers
  • To establish whether asylum seekers are able to access appropriate medical care services and the number of asylum seekers accessing them
  • To assess the impact of the PCT strategy ‘Bigger, Brighter, Better’ on general practice, and whether this strategy is likely to improve the effectiveness, quality and access to health care in Hackney’s GP practices, and for local people more generally.
  • To assess whether the proposed major transformations in the organisation of patient care will create more effective services and reduce health inequalities
  • Hackney’s Patient Participation Groups to be mapped
  • To map the mechanisms available for the public to have a voice in the way that primary care services are delivered and developed, and ensure that these have real involvement
  • To gain feedback from Hackney patients on the way that primary care services are planned and delivered
