Working Group Update
19th May 2010
The Adult Social Care Group had its first training session for buddies (people supporting the diary writers). The training went well and was thought provoking; we are looking forward to meeting out diary writers!
Next week we will be training and meeting the diary writers and getting the diaries started, we are all excited to see the project take off.
Many people have been coming in for interviews to talk about their experiences of home care; all of these experiences will be part of our final report.
23rd February 2010
The 'Adult Social Care Working Group' has been established to take a proactive look at adult social care in Hackney. We are aware that for many people, the level of care they receive at home can be poor. We are going to be addressing issues regarding Home Care to try and indentify the key problems and look at ways we can resolve them. Once we have worked on Home Care issues we will be looking at nursing and residential homes.
We are keen to be the voice of local people and to try and address the ongoing issues they are facing with these services.
We will be gathering experiences from local service users through diary keeping, visits, enter and views and phone calls. We aim to use this evidence to create a report of findings and make recommendations to present to the council.
Over the next three months we will be recruiting local people to keep diaries of the care they receive, we will also be encouraging people to call us to share their experiences. Whilst we wont be able to help with individual cases, we will be able to gather evidence and information with the aim of shaping the tendering and monitoring of home care services.
